Save Flagler's Beach

Flagler County has evolved over the past years.  It has changed from being one of the fastest growing counties in the country, to the county with the highest unemployment rate in Florida. Our economic position has suffered from the downturn in the housing market. Many of our citizens are suffering due to lack of jobs. Our budgets are being slashed due to property valuations plummeting.  Our local, state and federal budgets had opportunities that now appear to be gone or dwindling.

And now, to to top off all the issues facing our county, we are faced with coastal erosion and the possible washout of A1A in Flagler Beach. The local, state and federal agencies are once again preparing to spend millions of taxpayer dollars to armor our beautiful beach with seawalls and rocks.  The dunes are disappearing. The rock revetment is an eyesore. The seawall is ugly and rapidly deteriorating. Our beaches are disappearing.

The sand dunes not only protect our coastal highway; they also help to provide much needed visitor revenue to local businesses.  We can’t just stand by let our beach erode away.  We need to embrace the problem and find a financially responsible way to save our beach.

SaveFlaglersBeach.com is an organization with the mission to make Flagler Beach the first coastal community in the United States to restore and retain a permanent, naturally sustainable dune and beach system. We need your help in order to educate residents and local government about beach resurrection.  We need to mobilize the citizens of Flagler County to demand the right solution to save Flagler’s beaches; both financially and structurally.
